Mysterious Death in Marysville – Woman Found in Garbage Can

At 4:48 PM Wednesday, April 29th, Marysville Police responded to a death in Marysville on the 5700 block of Grove Street.

Officers determined the female subject was deceased, and detectives were called to the scene.

As of 10 PM, detectives were still on-scene at a location, investigating the unusual circumstances surrounding a suspicious death.

The body, which appears to be a woman in her 20s, was found in a garbage can and has been released to the Snohomish County Medical Examiner’s Office.

UPDATE 5/7/26:  The Snohomish County Medical Examiner’s office has officially identified the female as 40-year-old Sara Arneklev.

The manner of death is still pending; awaiting the results of a toxicology screen that was performed during the autopsy.

Marysville detectives have been in contact with family members of Ms. Arneklev and will continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding her death.
Arneklev, a local Marysville resident, is known to officers through police outreach programs as it pertained to her unhoused status.

Detectives are still asking anyone who may have information regarding the death of Arneklev to contact the Investigations Unit at 360-363-8378.
