Armed Suspect Shot by Snohomish County Sheriff Deputies Near Martha Lake

16200 Block of East Shore Drive in Lynnwood

On April 1st, around 5 PM, deputies with the Snohomish County Sheriffs Office responded to a report of a disturbance at a residence near the 16200 Block of East Shore Drive, near Martha Lake Park.

It was reported that a male suspect was armed with a handgun. When the responding deputies arrived, they encountered the suspect at the house.

Shots were fired, and the suspect was shot. Lifesaving measures were attempted, but the suspect died at the scene. No deputies were injured, and the homeowners were not injured.

The SMART team (Snohomish County Multiple Agency Response Team) is on scene investigating the incident, and this is an active and ongoing investigation. Positive identification and cause of death will be released by the Snohomish County Medical Examiner’s Office.

East Shore Drive was shut down while detectives investigate. All updates for this case will be posted to the SMART Team Website.

The SMART is a team of investigators, evidence technicians, records specialists, and public information officers from various Snohomish County law enforcement agencies and Washington State Patrol, who respond to, and investigate, police use of force incidents.

There are civilian community members who also serve on the SMART team per the Law Enforcement Training and Community Safety Act (LETSCA). When the SMART investigation is complete, results will be forwarded to the Snohomish County Prosecutor’s Office for review.
