On Tuesday on I-5 North near Dagmars (milepost 196), the Washington State Patrol reported a car vs. bus collision blocking the left three lanes.
Abdou Ndaw, a 29-year-old from Everett, was parked in the HOV lane when a Marysville School District bus collided with his car.
The bus was returning from dropping off students and had no children on board. Investigators still haven’t determined why Ndaw’s 2005 Ford Focus was parked in the HOV lane.
Both the bus driver (59 year old female from Everett) and Abdou Ndaw were rushed to Providence Regional Medical Center in Everett. Abdou Ndaw received critical care in the surgical and intensive care unit. Despite medical efforts, he was pronounced dead shortly after.
Mr. Ndaw had been living in Washington for about two and a half years. He was hard-working Amazon worker and a breadwinner for his family back in Senegal.
The Washington West African Center led a successful Gofundme campaign, raising nearly $20,000 from over 400 donors to cover funeral costs, repatriation of his body to Senegal for an Islamic burial, and family support.
