Everett Fire on the roof of South Pointe Assisted Living

The Everett Fire Department shared a drone video of the response to last night’s 2-alarm fire at South Pointe Assisted Living.

Just before midnight, firefighters responded to South Pointe Assisted Living on 4th Avenue West in south Everett for a fire in the attic involving the HVAC system.

Crews quickly located and extinguished the fire, bringing it under control and transitioning to overhaul operations within 30 minutes.

Below is aerial drone footage from the Everett Police Department’s Drone as a First Responder (DFR) program, so the Everett community can see the full scope of the response.

While the video highlights roof operations, the drone footage gives a full 360-degree view of this all-hands-on-deck effort.

You can see fire apparatus positioned around the building, crews working on the ground, and, just as importantly, firefighters inside, locating and quickly extinguishing the fire—bringing it under control and allowing residents to safely return to their home as soon as possible.

Equally critical was the quick action taken before firefighters arrived.

Facility staff activated their emergency plans and safely evacuated residents, allowing crews to focus immediately on fire suppression. A medical group was also established with EMS personnel to work along side staff and ensure residents were monitored and cared for throughout the incident.

Incidents like this remind us how important planning, teamwork, and practiced evacuation plans truly are—especially when it comes to caring for our most vulnerable residents and keeping them safe.

Everett Fire commended the staff at South Pointe Assisted Living for activating their emergency plans and safely evacuating all residents before firefighters arrived.

Crews worked quickly so residents could return inside as soon as it was safe.

Everett Fire thanked South County Fire, Mukilteo Fire Department, Everett Police Department, and the Snohomish County Sheriff’s Office for responding to assist with the incident. They were also thankful of Everett Transit, who were initially called to bring a bus to the facility to provide shelter for the evacuated residents, but were ultimately not needed. Quick work by all involved.

The cause of the fire is under investigation by the Everett Fire Marshal’s Office.
