Everett has been chosen as the location for a potential LEGO fan museum called “Bricks Museum.” If the Kickstarter is successful, the location would be in a large 2-story space at 2918 Hewitt Ave, previously occupied by a church, near the Reptile Emporium and Escape Everett.
The 3-week Kickstarter is about 30% funded, but only has one week left to meet its funding goal. Backers receive tickets, grand opening invites, membership, and even a full museum party rental, depending on their backing levels.
The museum would be a smaller, unofficial version of LEGO House in Billund, Denmark, more than 4,800 miles away. Expect to see artistic LEGO displays, also known as MOCs (my own creations), interactive exhibits, themed displays, build challenges, guest speakers, and hands-on experiences like building with oversized blocks.
Anyone who has attended BrickCon in Seattle (or Bellevue) has seen some of the incredible builds Seattle-area AFOLs (adult fans of LEGO) have built. Three local builders have even had their art displayed at LEGO House in Denmark.
The story behind the original idea is the sad reality that many of the most amazing LEGO artwork sits in a person’s home, taking up lots of space and collecting dust instead of being seen by the public outside a weekend convention once a year.
“For about 5 years I was a professional, commissioned stop-motion artist for LEGO. Twelve years ago I was invited to speak with Alice Finch at the Museum of Pop Culture for a LEGO event. She had just completed a massive Hogwarts Castle, which gained a lot of well-deserved attention.
Over time, she wanted her livingroom back and eventually dissassembled the 400,000 piece build and donated the bricks to a good cause. Many other fantastic builds eventually see the same fate for various reasons.
I wanted to create a space to display these amazing works as well as provide hands-on activities for kids and adults. I have some very fun plans for the museum that will be of interest to locals and international travellers alike,” Dustin Woodard explains.
Possibilties for the museum include:

Mosiac LEGO art by MBrick.
- Great hall for builds up to 15 feet tall
- Build a car and race it down a 5-lane timed race track
- Stop motion studio to make your own brickfilm
- Guest speakers from expert builders to celebrity cast members
- Themed exhibits including Star Wars, 1:1 scale builds, graffiti wall, LEGO photography, Skyscraper builds, oversized bricks and more.
- Movie nights
- STEM sessions, using LEGO robotics
- School field trips
- Private museum event rentals
- Birthday party room
- Build-a-set-cafe – where you reserve a set to build with while sipping coffee
If you think this is something you might enjoy, make it a reality by contributing to the Kickstarter before February 8th, aka Superbowl Sunday.
