Around 12:30 this morning Mukilteo Police Officers attempted to contact a vehicle parked in the Community Gardens after hours.
As an officer approached, the vehicle fled and was driven recklessly through the city. Officers attempted to stop the vehicle due to suspicion of DUI, but the driver failed to yield.
A pursuit was initiated, during which the vehicle damaged property before crashing in a neighborhood off Mukilteo Blvd. The driver then fled the scene on foot.
Officers called in for assistance from neighboring agencies, including K9 units from Everett Police Department and the Snohomish County Sheriff’s Office.
Around 12:50 a.m., the suspect was located down a ravine near Lamar Drive. Everett Fire crews were dispatched to the area of Lamar Drive and 3rd Lane after a male was reported approximately 20 feet down a ravine.
The suspect had fallen into a steep ravine with heavy mud and trees, sustaining injuries in the fall. Mukilteo Police officers were with the subject upon the Everett Fire crews’ arrival.
Aid 6 was able to reach the injured male by walking down into the ravine and worked with Engine 6 and TR 5 to carry out the rescue. Fire crews used a 35-foot extension ladder to move the individual to a safer location, then secured him in a Stokes basket and used a rope system to safely bring him out of the ravine.
The subject was evaluated by EMS personnel on scene and transported to a local hospital for further treatment for his injuries.
The suspect will be facing multiple charges, including eluding, malicious mischief, reckless driving, and additional related offenses. There were no reported injuries to officers or community members.
