Just after 6 p.m. today, South County Fire crews responded to reports of smoke billowing from a storage facility located on 4th Ave W in Everett.
Last year there was an even larger fire response to Trojan Storage on 4th Ave. This time it is a storage facility about one mile north, just short of 112th St SW at a place called Everett Secure Self Storage.
When firefighters arrived, heavy smoke from multiple storage units made it difficult to identify exactly where the fire was located within the single-story complex.
They successfully isolated the flames to just three units, preventing spread to the rest of the building.
While crews achieved a “knockdown” of the flames in about 30 minutes, extensive work was required to remove contents from the heavily packed units to reach deep-seated hotspots.
More than three dozen firefighters responded to the scene. South County Fire partnered with the Everett Fire Department and Paine Field Fire to take care of this fire.
There were no reported injuries.
The cause of the fire is currently under investigation by the Snohomish County Fire Marshal’s Office with support from South County Fire’s Prevention Division.
