Everett Fire

Shortly after 11:45 a.m. today, Friday, January 2, 2026, Everett Fire was dispatched to a reported apartment fire at the Nova North Apartments located at 8530 10th Ave W. in Everett.

Multiple 911 callers reported smoke coming from a ground-floor apartment in the A Building, with initial information indicating the apartment may be occupied.

Firefighters arrived to find smoke coming from a sliding glass door of the apartment.

South County Fire Engine 11 arrived first and made entry, locating fire and heavy smoke in a bedroom. During a search of the apartment, firefighters found a male in his 70s down inside the unit.

Fire crews rescued the individual from the apartment and immediately began life-saving measures, including CPR.

Crews regained a pulse, and medics transported the patient to Providence Regional Medical Center Everett in critical condition.

A second individual, a male in his 30s and a maintenance worker at the apartment complex, was transported for evaluation for smoke inhalation. The maintenance worker had entered the apartment prior to firefighters’ arrival in an attempt to locate the resident.

Firefighters contained the fire to the bedroom and quickly extinguished it. Crews checked adjoining apartments to ensure there was no fire extension and confirmed there were no additional victims.

Just prior to this incident, Everett Fire crews were operating at the scene of a five-vehicle collision with two fatalities in South Everett. When the apartment fire was dispatched, several units cleared the collision scene to respond, while remaining crews continued and completed operations before clearing the scene.

Everett Fire thanks automatic aid partners from South County Fire and Mukilteo Fire for their assistance at the apartment fire, as well as theor mutual aid partners who provided citywide coverage while Everett Fire crews managed these two critical incidents simultaneously.

Firefighters confirmed there were working smoke alarms inside the apartment, and the apartment building is equipped with a fire alarm system, which sounded. The cause of the fire is under investigation by the Everett Fire Marshal’s Office.

Fire Safety Reminder

Everett Fire reminds residents that working smoke alarms provide critical early warning and save lives. Smoke alarms should be installed in every bedroom, outside sleeping areas, and on every level of the home, and should be tested monthly. If a fire occurs, get out immediately and call 911 from a safe location. Never re-enter a burning building.
