10 Biggest Stories of 2025

Everett, Washington, is a big city with a lot going on. 2025 was no exception. Here’s a countdown of the most popular stories of 2025, according to article traffic & readership on My Everett News:

10) Flooding

The recent floods were big news covered nationally with lots of stories, from emergency declarations, to record levels, to evacuation orders, to people attempting to drive through the water, and looting of abandoned houses.

9) Restaurant Row

All the construction at the Port of Everett is starting to pay off with The Net Shed Fish Market opening a couple weeks ago, plus a deal was struck for a Mexican restaurant to open soon. The Port also put a call out for a steakhouse or experiential dinner option.

8) Discounted Product Options

Our story about a 15-year-old who started Bargain Binz in Everett was a hit and Five Below launched at the Everett Mall.

7) Everett School Wins FIRST Robotics World Championship

Team 2910 “Jack in the Bot” from Henry M. Jackson High School won the 2025 FIRST Robotics World Championship, held in Houston, Texas in April.

6) Postal Worker Shot by Amazon Delivery Driver

A USPS postal worker was shot at an Everett apartment building by another package delivery driver.

5) Unlicensed Street Food Vendors

2) Fred Meyer Closure

A corporate decision, ignoring previous efforts from the City of Everett, resulted in the closure of the South Everett Fred Meyer. It closed permanently in October, 2025.

It may be the end of crazy South Everett Fred Meyer news, but we still have cars crashing into other Fred Meyer locations.

1) Dick’s Grand Opening

From its humble food truck test, Dick’s held a top off party, then an Orange Ticket game for the eventual Grand Opening on June 12th, 2025.

An envious prankster erected a fake Dick’s Drive-In sign in Snohomish.
