In addition to the Ebey Island evacuation and Snohomish County flood emergency proclamation, the City of Everett is bracing for possible Snohomish River overflow, especially in the Riverfront Neighborhood in North Everett.
Here’s a message from the city that went out at 3pm today:
City staff of Everett are closely monitoring the weather and the potential for the Snohomish River flooding within our area. We are working closely with Snohomish County DEM.
There is a potential for flooding that may impact the Riverfront Neighborhood in North Everett. Current high-water projection models show that flood levels in that neighborhood may rise to the height of the roadway.
The lowest point on Riverfront Boulevard—just north of the bridge into the Overlook at Riverfront—could see water reaching or slightly exceeding the bridge level. If that happens, Public Works may need to close Riverfront Blvd due to flood waters sometime this evening, which may limit access to nearby homes.
Updates will be across the City of Everett social media platforms, and emergency alerts will be issued if needed.
There are no evacuation orders at this time, but conditions can change quickly. If you live or work along the Snohomish River:
- Stay tuned to official forecasts and City updates
- Be prepared for possible road closures
- Never drive or walk through flooded areas
The Everett Animal Shelter has relocated animals as a precaution and will post service updates on its channels.
Public Works crews have prepped key facilities, including sandbagging around the Water Pollution Control Facility.
We’ll keep sharing updates as the situation develops.
