Tommy’s Express in Everett celebrated their groundbreaking back in March and are now excited to open the first-ever Tommy’s Express location in the State of Washington and the entire Northwest portion of the U.S.
In anticipation of their opening tomorrow, we caught up with the local franchise owners, Clayton Wall and Phuong Truong, to find out more about them, why they chose Everett, and what makes a Tommy’s Express different from other car wash options in the area.
Phuong Truong, or “PT,”grew up in Western Washington then headed to the East Coast for college. At an internship at New York City, PT became roommates with Clayton Wall.
Though they went their separate ways after the internship, their friendship was maintained through their high-tech careers, which eventually brought them both to Washington.
Clayton is a self-admitted “neat freak” with his car. He didn’t have great experiences with his membership at an undisclosed car wash chain. He felt the on-boarding experience was cumbersome and that there must be better technology available. He also desired a more spacious experience for someone who is a little claustrophobic.
Clayton’s research of the car wash industry led him to Tommy’s Express. Featuring signature floor-to-ceiling windows and transparent roofs. The environment is bright and modern, making a routine car wash a more welcoming and enjoyable experience.
Tommy’s Express is well known outside the Northwest, with over 260 locations in North America and Europe. As part of their opening tomorrow, Tommy’s Express is offering FREE car washes through the month of November. Just show up during business hours 7 AM to 9 PM daily. They assure me there will be no strings attached or “gotchas.”
Why Everett?
Clayton and PT considered over 500 pieces of vacant commercial land before choosing Everett. Undeterred by the trash and abandoned tents on the property, they settled on 8101 Evergreen Way in South Everett.
The location is between Discount Tire and Mod Pizza, near Cascade High. It will be a convenient location for nearby Boeing and Fluke workers, plus easy freeway access for anyone traveling along State Route 526, Casino Road, or Evergreen Way.
In interviewing the two, I must say they come across as both friendly and excited. Clayton carries a bit of the southern hospitality we don’t see enough of, and PT has a contagious smile. They also care strongly about integrating with the Everett community.
Well before their business even launches tomorrow, they’ve become a part of the Everett community. You may have already run into them at Engage Everett and Everett Chamber events, or seen them sponsoring local events from free soccer camps at Kasch Park to Silvertips games. Two days ago they volunteered to clean the busiest Cocoon House location.
The state-of-the-art facility features premium amenities, free floor mat washers (a rare feature), free high-powered vacuum stations, sophisticated blowers (about 5 times more blowers than other car washes), enhanced soft cloth brushes that are automatically rinsed every hour, and gate technology that automatically read your license plate instead of requiring RFID stickers on your windshield.
