Last night the Everett Police Department made an arrest in the murder of Everett landlord Daniel Lytton. It appears the suspect was one of Lytton’s renters.
Lytton was murdered in the daytime hours of Nov. 5th, 2025, at a residence in the 2600 block of Grand Ave. Residents noticed he was missing and started putting up posters, looking for him.
On November 6th, city workers discovered a body wrapped in a blanket and duct tape in an alley between Grand and Rucker and alerted police. After several days of no mention by police or the media, we broke the story so the public was informed.
One resident claims the body was found in an alley by his house near the library at 2714 Rucker Ave. which means the body was moved two and a half blocks away from where the murder is believed to happen.
Major Crimes detectives identified a suspect by using statements from numerous individuals, thorough crime scene examination and analysis, and other pieces of evidence.
Investigators believe Daniel Lytton went to fix a toilet at one of his rental houses on Grand Avenue.
As a result of their investigation, detectives have gathered probable cause to charge the suspect with Murder in the 2nd Degree. After probable cause was established, the suspect was taken into custody by Everett Police Major Crimes detectives the night of November 11th, 2025.
The suspect will remain at the Snohomish County Jail where he is currently booked. The jail register lists 40-year-old David Lee Craft as the suspect. David Craft’s address matches a property owned by Daniel Lytton and his partner, meaning the suspect was likely a renter with Lytton as his landlord.
Craft, who lives with his mother, told the officer that he saw Lytton get into a Toyota Aven after he left.
Near where the body was dumped, officers discovered a padded snowboard bag with blood on the inside. Inside the bag the officers found and Lytton’s keys.
EVENING 11/12 UPDATE: the bail has been set to $2,000,000.
