Playground equipment is melted, and carpet is ruined.
Everett Fire extinguished a fire of playground equipment at Wiggums Hollow Park at 9:30 a.m. this morning.
Wiggums Hollow Park is located at 2808 10th Street in Everett, WA and had celebrated a grand re-opening in June of 2024 with new playground equipment.

After receiving multiple 911 calls, Everett Firefighters arrived on scene to find the main play equipment structure fully engulfed in flames.

The equipment in the center of the park has been ruined, along with the playground carpet. There were no injuries.
Considering the wet weather and time of day, foul play seems likely.
Update 10/30/25: The Everett Fire Marshal’s Office has classified the fire that occurred at Wiggums Hollow Park play area on October 27, 2025, as an incendiary fire. An incendiary fire is defined as a fire that is intentionally ignited where and when it should not have been. The Everett Police Department is handling the criminal investigation.

Wiggums Hollow Park celebrated its new playground grand opening in June 2024.
“It’s heartbreaking to see that the beautiful new playground at Wiggums Hollow Park was seriously damaged by a fire this morning. I’m so grateful to our Everett Fire Department for their quick response, which prevented it from being any worse.
This playground was designed with input from our Delta Neighborhood and community members – and it’s been such a joyful place for families since it opened in the summer of 2024.”
The play equipment area of the park is closed until further notice.
The cause of the fire is under investigation by the Everett Fire Marshal’s Office and the Everett Police Department.
