Everett’s Martin Lumber Shuts Down after 75 Years

October 12, 2025

Downtown Everett, Everett Economy

The Martin Lumber True Value in Downtown Everett shut down last weekend after 75 years in business.

The lumberyard was first started in 1950 by Jim Martin. It had moved around on Broadway until it settled at 2730 Broadway in Everett.

Many local residents and builders found it a handy place for remodeling and home projects. Martin Lumber was known for its helpful, knowledgeable staff.

In 2024, True Value filed for bankruptcy, making it more difficult to obtain supplies for the 4,500 franchisees. True Value’s operation was unique in that the stores are independently owned.

This past year has been a struggle, and the owners of of Martin Lumber were ready to retire.

James G Murphy has an auction set up for Martin Lumber from 10/23/25 to 10/30/25 with a preview on 10/29/25. You can view the catalog here.
