Vespa Driver Died on I-5 Early this Morning

Around 3:30 this morning the driver of a Vespa was struck by a commercial truck and died on I-5 near Everett Mall Way in Everett.

According to the Washington State Patrol reports, the driver of the Black 2020 Vespa was a a 63-year old from Everett who had his helmet on.

It’s unclear if something happened before the vehicle hit him, but the Vespa was reported to be on the shoulder while the Vespa driver was in lane three, away from the Vespa.

Here’s the report:

  • VEHICLE ONE AND VEHICLE TWO WERE SOUTHBOUND I5 AT MP188
  • VEHICLE TWO WAS UNOCCUPIED ON LEFT SHOULDER AND RIDER WAS IN LANE THREE.
  • VEHICLE ONE STRUCK THE RIDER.
  • VEHICLE ONE CAME TO REST ON THE RIGHT SHOULDER
  • RIDER OF VEHICLE TWO CAME TO REST IN LANE FOUR.

The driver that hit the motorcyclist is a 57-year old from Lake Stevens, driving a a white Isuzu NQR.

The highway was partially blocked for four-and-a-half hours this morning for the investigation.
