Former Snohomish County Sheriff Adam Fortney and his wife Jill Fortney announced the launch of a new community focused non-profit: Lead The Way Foundation, aimed at providing Leadership, Encouragement, And Direction (LEAD) to local youth ages 13–17.
This initiative builds on the legacy of Adam’s tenure as elected sheriff, and is inspired by a similar “Lead The Way” program he launched while serving as Sheriff from 2020 to 2023—bringing the same commitment to steering young lives toward positive paths.
“Too many young people in our community are struggling, feeling lost, unheard, or stuck. We believe every teen deserves to be seen, supported, mentored and given the tools to lead a better life,” said Adam Fortney.
The Lead The Way Foundation is launching its first program a free, 8-week session designed to build leadership skills, resilience, and self-worth among Snohomish County teens.
Start Date: Wednesday, October 8th, 2025
Time: 5:30 PM – 7:30 PM (weekly for 8 weeks)
Location: Sno-Isle TECH Skills Center at 9001 Airport Road, Everett, WA 98204
The weekly sessions will feature engaging classes, guest speakers, and real-life stories on topics like:
- Leadership and accountability
- Building resiliency
- Navigating social media pressures
- Life lessons and decision-making
- Finding hope through hardship
- Understanding that your mistakes don’t define you
“Our goal is to meet teens where they are—with compassion, honesty, and guidance. This isn’t a lecture series. It’s a chance to connect, grow, and lead together,” said Jill Fortney.
Who Can Attend?
This program is open to youth ages 13 to 17 residing in Snohomish County, with limited exceptions. Space is limited—early registration is encouraged.
