Recycling Truck Fire Near Silver Lake

A reader sent in this photo of the Everett Fire Department responding to the fire.

Yesterday morning, an unusual fire had to be put out northwest of Silver Lake in Everett.

Apparently, a recycling truck was driving near 112th Street SE and had its load catch fire. A reader sent us a tip along with pictures.

In the background you can see Piroshky & Crepes European Bakery & Cafe and what used to be Discovery Child Center.

The reader also captured the scene before the fire engine arrived.

According to fire dispatch records, the Everett Fire Department was called in at 8:53 a.m. and South County Fire aided as well.

A witness tells us the recycling vehicle dumped its load into the parking lot just off 112th St SE, likely in response to a fire in the back of the truck, to save both the vehicle and the driver.

Details on what caused the fire hasn’t been shared yet. We’ll update the story if we get back more information.

This is the 2nd recycling-related fire in the past week. As you can see in the video below, South County Fire put out a battery-caused fire at the Airport Way Recycling Center:
