Fatal Everett Crash on I-5 Off-Ramp Near 41st Kills Man, Injures Two and Sent Flaming Engine Block Into Field

Everett Fire on scene of a fatal crash near I-5 off ramp at 41st.

Everett police and fire personnel are on scene a fatal collision in the 3800 block of South 3rd Ave, near I-5 and 41st Street.

One male was pronounced dead at the scene and 2 subjects, a female and child, have been medically transported.

According to the Washington State Patrol, the vehicle was travelling at high speeds, exited onto the off-ramp at 41st Street, continued through the intersection, and left the roadway onto South 3rd Avenue.

The vehicle reportedly flipped multiple times and came to rest on some railing.

The force of the collision caused the engine block to separate from the vehicle and landed in a field which caused a 100’ x 70’ brush fire in the 3800 block of S 3rd Ave. The fire has been extinguished.

The driver was a 45 male from Marysville. The 3-year-old child and 45-year old female passenger, also from Marysville, were transported to Providence in Everett.

Temporary Closures:

The northbound I-5 on and off-ramps to 41st Street in Everett remain closed. The southbound I-5 on-and off-ramps remain open, but vehicles using the southbound off-ramp must head west on 41st Street.

South 3rd Ave is closed between 41st and Smith Ave.

Emergency responders are on scene, but there is no estimate when the ramps will reopen. People traveling through the area should seek alternate routes.

Washington State Patrol is responding to lead this investigation.

This is an active investigation and there are no further details at this time.

UPDATE 3:30 a.m. 8/13/25: everything has reopened.
