Expect traffic congestion in Downtown Everett starting August 18th as Broadway is repaved from California Street to 18th Street.
The majority of traffic will be redirected to Colby Avenue, Hewitt Avenue, 23rd Street, and Walnut Street.
During construction, the full closure of Broadway will be in place from 7 p.m. to 7 a.m. The work is weather dependent, so dates are subject to change.
The road will be closed in three phases, with each phase closing a different segment of Broadway within the project area. Phase 1 is estimated to take two weeks.
During grinding and paving, a full closure of Broadway the work is expected to be loud and disruptive.
During the closure hours bus stops within the closure zone will be out of service. Everett Transit Routes 3, 7 and 29 will be detoured. They will have two temporary stops located on the westbound side of Hewitt, one east of Virginia and one east of Baker.
Property access and emergency vehicle access on Broadway will be maintained with limited disruptions.
Traffic detours will be in place during work hours. Please see the detour maps below.
Here’s a look at Phase 1 re-routing:
As you can see, traffic will be pushed around Broadway, mostly affecting Hewitt and Colby Avenues, which are already busy during commute times, so the 7pm start helps.
It is unclear how long each phase of the project will take, but to prepare you for it, here are maps of Phase 2 and 3 of the Broadway repayment project:
Phase 2 will affect Colby Ave and 23rd St again, but Walnut Ave and 16th St will also see increased traffic.
In phase 3, traffic is shifted to 19th Street and Everett Avenue, well before the closure:
