Just after 7:00 p.m. on Friday, August 8th, Everett Fire responded to a report of a house fire in the 200 block of Skyline Drive near Legion Memorial Golf Course.

The fire started as a stovetop grease fire, which extended to the walls of the kitchen.

Thankfully, nobody was injured.

The American Red Cross Northwest Region is responding to assist six displaced residents and their family pets.

Cooking fires are the leading cause of home fires and injuries, with grease fires being a significant contributor to these incidents.

If a grease fire occurs, smother it by sliding a lid over the pan, turning off the heat, and waiting for it to cool. Never use water to extinguish this type of fire. If the fire is too large, evacuate the premises and call 911.
