On the morning of July 27th, at approximately 4:38 in the morning, Everett Police officers responded to the 8500 block of 7th Avenue SE for a report of a person laying on the side of the road. Upon arrival, officers located a severely injured male.
Everett Fire units responded in order to render aid, but unfortunately the male’s injuries were too severe, and he was pronounced deceased at the scene.
This isn’t far from where an Everett Transit bus hit a pedestrian a month earlier.
While the investigation was going on, 7th Ave was blocked off, redirecting many trying to get to the St Mary Magdalen Parish Sunday morning service.
Evidence at the scene led officers to believe that the male was a pedestrian and he was struck by a vehicle in the area of West Casino Road and 5th Avenue West near the Mobil gas station.
The vehicle continued to drive after the collision, resulting in the victim ending up a full mile down the road, to the location where he was found on 7th Ave. SE.
Update: A suspect was arrested on 9/16/25.
Everett PD’s Traffic Safety Unit responded to assist with the investigation. The detectives were able to collect evidence from community members, video from surrounding businesses, and data from the department’s FLOCK camera system.
On July 29th, investigators identified the suspect vehicle and a potential driver. The suspect vehicle was impounded, and it will be processed for additional evidence.
The Snohomish County Medical Examiner’s Office took custody of the male on the morning of the collision. They will be officially identifying the male and providing the cause of death. Everett PD has made a tentative identification of the male and Chief DeRousse has been in contact with his family to provide an update on the case.
Update: The family has come forward, naming Brent DeArman, age 39, as the victim.
The circumstances surrounding the collision are still under investigation. This is a complicated incident, and a thorough investigation will take some time. Once completed, it will be forwarded to the Prosecutor’s Office for review. At this point, no charges have been filed.
Anybody having additional information about this incident is encouraged to call the Everett Police Dept. Tip Line at 425-257-8450.
