2600 Block of W Marine View Drive

On May 4th, 2025, Everett police patrol officers responded to a reported overdose at an apartment complex in the 2600 block of W Marine View Drive.

A female had reportedly been located by a neighbor. She had died in her apartment.

When officers arrived, they discovered the deceased, a female in her 40s. They also discovered drug paraphernalia and suspected fentanyl in her vicinity.

Following a preliminary investigation, the Snohomish County Medical Examiner’s Office took custody of her body.

Members from the Everett Police Department’s Community Response Team (CRT) contacted staff at the location where the deceased lived.

During the preliminary investigation, it was discovered staff witnessed a known drug dealer sell the female narcotics outside her apartment complex shortly before her death. This transaction was captured on video surveillance camera, and the footage was reviewed by officers.

Video footage also showed that following the transaction, the female entered her apartment and was discovered deceased shortly thereafter. Video footage confirmed no additional persons had come or gone from the female’s apartment since she had returned with her purchased narcotics.

Officers determined this drug dealer ultimately sold the female the narcotics, which contributed to her death.

On June 23, 2025, members of the Community Response Team contacted the suspect, who had been recently booked into the Snohomish County Jail on unrelated drug charges. Following an interview with the suspect, he was booked on an additional charge, controlled substance homicide.

“These types of drug investigations can be difficult, but the officers in our Community Response Team worked hard to collect the evidence and do the interviews necessary to tie this dealer to the death of someone they provided with illegal drugs.”, said Chief John DeRousse. “Without the extra effort, we would have been unable to make this arrest, and provide the victim’s family with a little peace, knowing someone was held accountable for the death.”
