On Monday, June 9th, a graveyard shift Snohomish County Sheriff K9 deputy observed a vehicle occupied by several known gang members intentionally avoiding him on 128th Street SW in unincorporated Everett.
A short time later, the individuals were seen walking away from the vehicle and entering a nearby grocery store.
The deputy approached the vehicle and observed a firearm in plain view on the floorboard. He was able to read the serial number—confirming the firearm had been reported stolen out of Tacoma. The firearm had been illegally modified to make it fully automatic weapon.
As the occupants were seen walking nearby, the deputy contacted and identified them. All four individuals (17, 18, 18, 19) were under the age of 21, which prohibits them from possessing pistols.
The deputy impounded the suspect’s vehicle pending a search warrant. On Sunday, June 15th, deputies served a search warrant on the vehicle, recovered the stolen firearm and discovered a second firearm. The second firearm was an untraceable “ghost gun” with a 3D-printed frame, along with an extended 30-round magazine.
This is one example of the vigilance and proactive police work done by graveyard deputies working around the clock to keep our community safe.
