The Downtown Everett Association (DEA) proudly announced that it has was designated as an Accredited Main Street America organization for meeting rigorous performance standards set by Main Street America. This recognition marks a significant milestone in DEA’s ongoing efforts to revitalize and support Downtown Everett as a vibrant, thriving destination for residents, businesses, and visitors.
Accreditation is the top tier of recognition by Main Street America and is a mark of excellence among the national network of over 1,200 Main Street communities. Each year, Main Street America and its partners recognize programs that demonstrate exceptional commitment to preservation-based economic development and community revitalization through the Main Street Approach.
To qualify for accreditation, DEA met a set of performance standards which include fostering strong public-private partnerships, planning strategically, preserving historic assets, encouraging community involvement, and demonstrating measurable outcomes in economic development.
Patrick Hall, Board of Directors Vice President shared:
“The Downtown Everett Association spent many years cleaning the streets and managing a parking garage before joining the Main Street program in 2019. Main Street gave us resources, training, and a roadmap for a more proactive strategy for downtown revitalization. Since then, investment in Downtown Everett has flourished.
As a result, we now have a full calendar of summer events, new amenities such as holiday lighting and banners, and more and more new businesses every year. Storefront vacancies are falling, housing units are increasing, and there are more people on the streets. Our new designation as an Accredited Main Street Community is a reflection of our status as a topnotch program which is making a real impact on our community.”
Since its establishment, DEA has spearheaded numerous initiatives, including seasonal events, public space improvements, business support programs, and beautification
efforts—each contributing to the ongoing revitalization of Downtown Everett.
Main Street America is a subsidiary of the National Trust for Historic Preservation. Communities receiving accreditation join a national movement dedicated to celebrating
and strengthening the cultural and economic assets of historic downtowns and neighborhood commercial districts.
