SR 529 Overnight Closures This Week To Stripe New Roundabout

I-5 projectWork on new ramps connecting State Route 529 and Interstate 5 is moving toward completion.

As part of that effort, both directions of SR 529 will close nightly from 9:30 p.m. to 4 a.m., Monday night, June 9, to Thursday morning, June 12, between Ebey Slough and I-5.

During the nightly closures, drivers on northbound SR 529 will detour via the on-ramp to northbound I-5 to reach Marysville.

People will need to use southbound I-5 and the SR 529 off-ramp to take that highway into Everett.

The work is weather-dependent; rain could postpone it, but current weather forecasts look dry until Friday.

Contractor crews working for the Washington State Department of Transportation will use the closure to place final striping near the roundabout on SR 529 just south of Ebey Slough.

The roundabout will open at the same time as the new I-5 ramps. It will allow vehicles using the northbound I-5 off-ramp to go south on SR 529 or northbound traffic on SR 529 to use the new southbound I-5 on-ramp.

While no date has been set, the new ramps are expected to open in July.
