Everett Police reported a stabbing occurred in Everett on Evergreen Way in the same location a motorcyclist died (in an accident) on May 22nd.
At approximately 9:00pm Friday evening officers responded to a reported stabbing in the 10300 of Evergreen Way.
Upon arrival, officers discovered a victim with injuries who stated his assailant stole his vehicle.
The vehicle was later located by police and pursued into Lynnwood, where the suspect was taken into custody.
The victim was transported to the hospital for his injuries.
5/29/25 Update: Yuriy Vakulchik was the victim. He is a Lyft & Uber driver who likes to stop at IHOP for dinner near Paine Field in Everett. As he was heading back out to work again a stranger put a knife to his throat.
His son recalled to Fox 13, “He came up from behind him and wrapped his arms around him and said, ‘You’re dead. You’re dead. You’re dead’, and then slit his throat.”
The man cut Yurij’s neck as he tried to fight back. “My dad turned around and started swinging at him. Then, the guy started stabbing at his face and his head.”
Witnesses in IHOP called 911 and Everett Police pulled up as the man was fleeing in Yuriy’s SUV. “The suspect jumped into my dad’s running vehicle and just went over the barricade down the bushes on to Everett Mall Way and ran down south.”
Witnesses say the police caught the suspect a few miles away near the Costco in Lynnwood.
Yurij is stable but may need to have surgery to save his vision and has a long road to recovery. His family has put together a GoFundMe to help him lessen the burden on having to return to work and pay his bills while he recovers. So far they have raised about $4,000.
