A Look at Mayor and City Council Seats Up for Election in 2025

logoThe May 9th candidate filing deadline has passed and we can now see what candidates will be running for the City of Everett positions that will appear in the primaries and general election later this year.

Below is a list of the open seats for Everett positions in the 2025 election and who is running:

EVERETT MAYOR:

As we’ve written about before, current Mayor, Cassie Franklin, is running for reelection.

Also running, is former City Council member, Scott Murphy, business leader Dr. Janice Greene, and IT worker Rich Ryan.

CITY COUNCIL:

District 1: Incumbent Mary Fosse isn’t running for reelection. She will still serve as the State House Representative for District 38.

Running for this seat are: Sam Hem, Mason Rutledge, Steven Sullivan, Erica Weir, and Bill Wheeler.

District 2: Paula Rhyne (incumbent), Ryan Crowther, and Jonathan Shapiro.

District 3: Don Schwab (incumbent) and Marcus Nunez.

District 4: Incumbent, Liz Vogeli will not be running for reelection.

Running for this seat are: Niko Battle, Luis Burbano, and Alan Rubio.

District 5: Incumbent Ben Zarlingo will be unopposed in the primary and will automatically be on the ballot in the general election.

We hope to highlight the candidates further and provide more information than you will see in the voters pamphlet.
