More than 60 firefighters from across south Snohomish County worked Monday evening to extinguish a storage facility fire that produced a thermal column seen for miles.
Firefighters were dispatched to the facility in the 13000 block of 4th Ave West just after 6:30 p.m. and began arriving five minutes later to find heavy fire conditions. The fire was upgraded to two alarms to bring in necessary resources.
Flames destroyed approximately 13 storage bays used to house vehicles at Trojan Storage, but firefighters managed to save an adjoining shop that contained flammable chemicals.
More than a dozen additional storage units had heat damage. No injuries have been reported at this time.
Firefighters will monitor the facility throughout the night to ensure there are no flare-ups. The Snohomish County Fire Marshal’s Office is investigating the cause of the fire.
Responders included: South County Fire, Everett Fire Department, Mukilteo Fire Department, and the Paine Field Airport Fire Department.
