At 8:25 a.m. today, a neighbor alerted 911 after hearing a smoke alarm and smelling smoke from a ground-floor apartment at Woodhaven Apartments, located at 4604 Fowler Avenue in Everett.
Fire crews arrived within minutes of the 911 call and found an apartment full of smoke when they entered the unit.
During the search of the unit, firefighters located an unresponsive male. Paramedics and emergency medical personnel immediately began performing CPR and administering life-saving measures.
Unfortunately, despite their efforts, the individual was pronounced deceased at the scene.
Firefighters quickly extinguished a small fire in the bedroom, successfully preventing it from spreading to nearby units. Fortunately, no other residents were displaced.
The Everett Fire Marshal’s Office is investigating the origin and cause of the fire, while the Everett Police Department is handling the investigation related to the fatality, which is standard procedure.
The Snohomish County Medical Examiner will confirm the identity of the decedent and determine the cause and manner of death.
