The school board reviewed applications from a strong pool of candidates at an executive session on April 15. It selected five individuals whose experience, dedication to education, and commitment to community service stood out. The finalists are:
- Demetria Chatters (chair of the Snohomish County Human Rights Commission and Everett’s planning commission)
- Jeffrey Doan (vice chair of the Mill Creek Parks & Rec Board and a former Boeing exec)
- Anna Marie Jackson Laurence (board of the Henry M. Jackson Foundation)
- Curt Lillibridge (former banking industry CEO)
- Ryan Weber (Delta Neighborhood Association chair)“We appreciate the community’s interest in serving our students and schools,” said School Board President Traci Mitchell. “The finalists represent a wide range of experiences and perspectives, and we look forward to hearing more from each during the interview process.”
The finalists will interview with the school board during an open session scheduled to begin at 11:30 a.m. on Thursday, May 1.
The board may recess into an executive session to discuss candidates’ qualifications and then return to an open session to decide whom to appoint to the vacant position.
The newly appointed director will be sworn into office during the regular school board meeting on May 13 and will serve through December 2025.
Mason resigned in March after 11 years of service to Everett Public Schools. Throughout her tenure, she was recognized for her leadership, advocacy for student success, and commitment to the community.
