Stabbing Attempt at Alderwood Middle School in Lynnwood

At approximately 1:30pm today, South County Sheriff Deputies responded to an assault with a weapon at Alderwood Middle School in Lynnwood.

The suspect, an 11-year-old male, arrived at the campus and attempted to stab another student, just minutes after school got out (early release on Fridays). Luckily, a teacher witnessed the incident and quickly intervened, preventing the victim from being injured.

The 11-year-old suspect then fled on foot and is still outstanding.

Law enforcement initially said the suspect is believed to be a former student at the school, but Alderwood Middle School is 7th and 8th grade, which would typically be 12 to 14-year olds.

School officials later confirmed that it was a former Edmonds School District student who currently attends a different school in another area.

Law enforcement assures the public there is no active threat to the students, staff, or school.

Though Alderwood Middle School is in Lynnwood, it is part of the Edmonds School District and serves about 700 students. It’s located at 1132 172nd Street SW in Lynnwood, right next to Martha Lake Elementary.

Parents of students who attend the school received this statement:
