As we reported on March 14th, the Snohomish Regional Drug Task force made an arrest of Percy Levy in Everett.
They found a significant enough amount of drugs and criminal history to assign $1.5 million in bail while he faces 11 felony drug and gun charges.
The story gets more intriguing when you dig into Percy Levy’s past.
Percy Levy previously served 17 years in prison for 9 felony convictions, including burglary of a drug house. He was granted clemency by Governor Inslee in 2019 and went on to work on the Board of Black Lives Matter for Seattle/King County.
Levy was also a community outreach specialist for Washington Defender Association working on criminal justice reform to help prisoners pursue re-sentencing after the State v Blake ruling in 2021 (on vacating drug possession).
In Everett, he is the owner of Redemption Auto Sales on Highway 99 where reviews said he was “friendly,” and “cool as hell.”
The Washington Defender Association silently removed Percy Levy from their staff page in the last week. Here’s what his bio used to say:
Percy Levy served 20 years behind bars before being granted executive clemency by Governor Inslee in 2019. Since that time, he has been an advocate for changing the criminal legal system from the inside out—with an emphasis on sentencing reform and bringing home the victims of the so-called “war on crime.”
He has an Associate of Arts degree from Walla Walla Community College and spent most of his time in prison working in the law library helping others with post-trial litigation efforts. Last, but not least, he is the author of several articles and three urban novels.
His Amazon author bio sheds more light on his past:
I was born in a women’s prison in Southern California. Such a dark fact definitely served as an ominous foreshadowing of what my life was soon to become.
After my mother was released from prison, she decided–for some reason still unknown and unclear to this day–to move up the coast to Seattle.
Unfortunately, things did not get better in Seattle. When my momma slipped back into her drug-addicted and hustling ways, I wound up being raised by the foster care and juvenile institutional system. Needless to say, jails and prison became a way of life for me as an adult.
His life seemed to be on the right track after getting out of prison, but that may have only been how it looked on the surface. Jim Fuda with Crime Stoppers of Puget Sound stated,
“Doesn’t seem like he’s changed his relationships while he was in and headed back into the same circle, which is obviously troubling.”
Percy Levy remains in the Snohomish County Jail awaiting trial. More info in this video:
