A reader sent over a couple of photos of the long-anticipated Boeing 777x airplane flying over Everett earlier this week.

Benjamin Rice spotted the flyover above Evergreen Middle School Fields on Tuesday, March 18th.

Flight logs show several flights from the 17th to the 19th for aircraft N779XX, a Boeing 777-9, originating from Seattle, over Everett, then over to Moses Lake, down to Walla Walla, back to Moses Lake and back over Everett, before landing in Seattle.

The next flight, on March 19th, was nearly six hours, making it all the way to Boise.

“Boeing 777x is definitely the future of Everett manufacturing and it was exciting seeing the stock rise so much the day after seeing it,” Rice mentioned.

Boeing stock (NYSE: BA) was up 11% the last five days (which includes the F-47 announcement today), which far outpaced the S&P 500, which was up a little over half a percent in the same time period.

The Boeing 777x will come with two variants: the Boeing 777-8 for long haul flights and 777-9.

In January, Boeing announced that it would begin certification flights and hopes to complete the process in the next year, allowing for a 2026 delivery for the first plane.

With a capacity for 426 passengers in two classes, the 777-9 is expected to replace flights currently operated by the 747-8 and the A380, which are much less efficient when measuring fuel per passenger.

It will be the largest twin-engine commercial aircraft in the world. Its length will be 252 feet and the wingspan will be 235.5 feet (though the wings can fold to fit existing gates).

It will sport the new GE9X engines, the largest and most powerful jet engines ever built. The fan diameter is nearly as large as a Boeing 737 fuselage.

Seeing the 777x make certification flights signals a brighter future for Boeing after a number of setbacks.
