Everett School Board Director Caroline Mason Resigns After 11 Years of Service

School Board Director Caroline Mason has announced her resignation after 11 years of dedicated service to Everett Public Schools.

The board accepted her resignation at the school board meeting on Tuesday, March 11, 2025.

During the meeting, fellow school board members and the superintendent recognized Director Mason for her strong commitment to student success, her leadership through pivotal moments, and her deep dedication to our schools and community.

“Director Mason has been a model of leadership and service, leaving a lasting legacy that will benefit generations of students,” said Dr. Ian Saltzman, superintendent of Everett Public Schools. “Her dedication to students, staff, and the community is truly commendable. Working alongside her has been an honor, and I have no doubt her contributions will continue to inspire future leaders.”

Since joining the school board, Director Mason has attended more than 460 board meetings, providing thoughtful leadership that has contributed to the district’s growth.

She served in multiple roles, including three and a half years as school board president, two and a half years as vice president, and one year as parliamentarian, all while remaining committed to advancing student achievement and community involvement.

Director Mason’s advocacy extended beyond local efforts. She fought for funding at the state level to increase access to rigorous education for all students. She is deeply committed to identifying and removing barriers to student success.

One of the most notable challenges of Director Mason’s tenure was the closure of schools due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Her leadership during this time helped guide the district’s transition to remote learning and a smooth return to in-person education. Additionally, she played a key role in addressing the evolving issue of cell phone use in schools.

Beyond her board duties, Director Mason has been an active volunteer in the community, sharing her expertise with local non-profits in the arts, financial services, women’s health, and youth sports. She has also represented Everett Public Schools at state and national education conferences, advocating for the needs of students and the district.

Everett Public Schools appreciates Director Mason’s service and contributions and invites the community to join us in celebrating her dedication and wishing her well in her next chapter.
