Construction workers stand alongside a concrete girder being held by a crane getting it set into the right position.
Yesterday, the WSDOT hung up girders for the new southbound I-5 off-ramp to SR 529 in Marysville.
Travelers will finally shift from the current temporary ramp they’ve been using, to the new ramp. The new ramp is expected to open sometime in April, 2025.
This is part of a larger project to complete the I-5/SR 529 interchange, providing more access to and from north Everett and Marysville.

Giant crane hoists a massive concrete girder into place where the future southbound I-5 off-ramp to State Route 529 will be in Marysville.
Later this spring or early summer, WSDOT will open a new on-ramp from SR 529 to southbound I-5 and a new off-ramp from northbound I-5 to SR 529.
The new northbound off-ramp will provide people with an alternative way to Marysville without using the Fourth Street/SR 528 exit, which often backs up due to the railroad crossing on Fourth about 1,000 feet east of the off-ramp.

Concrete girder is in place to support a future bridge where the future southbound I-5 off-ramp to State Route 529 will be.
The WSDOT contractor also built a roundabout where SR 529 and the northbound I-5 off-ramp come together, allowing people to reach I-5 or SR 529 from either direction.
They also built a pedestrian undercrossing at the northbound off-ramp. This will allow people who walk, bicycle, or use mobility devices to travel along the northbound lanes of SR 529.
There’s still a lot more work to be done, but they are getting closer to completion, which is slated for the end of 2025.
