Stabbing suspect Andrew Freeman Jr.

On January 29th, 2025, at approximately 4:00 pm, Everett Police Officers took Andrew Freeman into custody.

Freeman had been identified as the suspect in the stabbing that took place on Jan. 16th, 2025. Before police knew who the suspect was, he was arrested the same day for other crimes, then released.

He then eluded police for 13 days before being arrested today when an alert community member notified 911 of Freeman’s whereabouts.

The community member spotted Freeman on the bus near SW Everett Mall Way near the Kia Dealer, across from Goodwill.

Officers responded accordingly, verified Freeman’s identity, and he was arrested without incident.

Everett Mayor Cassie Franklin made this statement:

“I want to thank our police department for their dedication to getting justice for the young student that was attacked earlier this month, and I also want to commend our community and media partners for helping us amplify information about the suspect,” said Everett Mayor Cassie Franklin.

“The community plays such an important role in public safety; I encourage our residents to stay informed, be observant and ensure they know the proper channels for reporting both emergency and non-emergency situations.”

“We cannot thank the public enough for their assistance in this investigation,” said Everett Police Chief John DeRousse.

“From the beginning, we relied on the public’s assistance in identifying this person. Thanks to a community member’s tip, we were able to locate our suspect.”

Freeman will be booked into the Snohomish County Jail for Assault in the 1st Degree.

1/31/25 Update: Freeman is being held on $2 million bail.
