January 29, 2025

Everett Fire, Police Blotter

On Tuesday, January 28, 2025, just before 9:40 p.m., the Everett Fire Department responded to a fire at a four-plex apartment complex located in the 2500 block of Grand Avenue.

Neighbors reported flames coming from one of the apartment windows. Fire crews arrived on scene to find a working fire in a bottom-floor apartment. Upon entering the unit, they found an unresponsive adult female. Paramedics and emergency medical personnel immediately began performing CPR and administering life-saving measures.

Unfortunately, despite their efforts lasting over 45 minutes, the individual was pronounced deceased at the scene.

The firefighters quickly extinguished the flames within 15 minutes of their arrival, preventing the fire from spreading to neighboring units. Fortunately, no other residents were displaced.

The Everett Fire Marshal’s Office is investigating the origin and cause of the fire, while the Everett Police Department is handling the investigation related to the fatality, which is standard procedure.

The Snohomish County Medical Examiner will confirm the identity of the deceased and determine the cause and manner of death.

Marysville Fire District, Snohomish Regional Fire and Rescue, and Snohomish Fire District 4 also provided assistance.

The Everett Fire Department would like to remind everyone of the importance of working smoke alarms in their home. They are a key part of a home fire escape plan, giving you early warning so you can evacuate quickly.

The Everett Fire Department offers free installation of smoke alarms for low-income, seniors and individuals with disabilities. For assistance, please contact the Everett Fire Marshal’s Office at 425-257-8100 or via email at FMO@everettwa.gov.
