The Everett Police Department was finally able to track down the identity of the person who stabbed the 6th grader in North Everett three days ago.
The person of interest has been identified as Andrew Freeman. Before identifying him, the police last described him as a light-skinned Black male, approximately 6’0’, in his late-teens or early twenties.
Andrew Freeman can be seen in the EPD released picture on the right, in what appears to be the mug shot of someone who already served time in the past.
Did the Police Have Him in Custody?
According to jail records, an Andrew Steven Freeman, Jr. had been booked several times for parole violations in November & December 2024, plus a parole violation earlier this month. He is 21 years old, turning 22 in a few weeks.
Even worse, it appears the Snohomish County Sheriff had arrested him just 50 minutes after the stabbing for either possessing a controlled substance and/or failure to appear in court. He was put in jail at 9:21 a.m. on January 16th and released at 2:14 p.m. on January 17th.
In the January 17th FTA (failure to appear) hearing at 11:17 a.m., in which Andrew Freeman Jr. is in attendance, the officer mentions it is Mr. Freeman’s “first lifetime warrant in this matter, so they have no objection to just resetting it at this point.” Freeman’s lawyer mentioned it wasn’t a willful failure to appear, but Mr. Freeman was in custody at the time and had just been released on January 15th.
If this is the same Andrew Freeman, which we believe is, then clearly EPD didn’t have enough information about the stabbing at the time to make the connection that he had been arrested that day for the controlled substance possession.
The Search Continues
Police have not located Andrew Freeman and seek help from the public. Check your security cameras and keep your eye out for him. If seen, do NOT approach, contact 911 immediately.
