An unusual rescue in Everett can be seen through Everett Police body cams. The video shows Sergeant Ross helping a man out of a burning vehicle near the mall.
The incident took place on December 23rd, 2024, when Sergeant Ross responded to a collision in the 1500 block of SE Everett Mall Way. When he arrived, he found an unresponsive male trapped inside of a vehicle on fire.
The accelerator of the vehicle was depressed, causing the wheels to spin and the car to catch on fire. A vehicle in front of the car was holding it in place for some time.
With the help of other responding aid crews, Sergeant Ross broke the driver’s side window of the vehicle and was able to pull the driver to safety.
While the driver was being assessed by medical personnel, the vehicle holding the car in place moved away. This caused the smoking vehicle to roll forward, into a busy intersection. An officer was able to steer the moving, smoldering vehicle off the roadway.
