IAM 751 Went on Strike in September 13th

Last night Boeing machinist union workers approved a new labor deal Monday, ending a nearly eight-week strike that halted aircraft production in Everett. IAM District 751 members voted 59% in favor of the new contract.

The new contract includes 38% wage increases over four years, a $12k bonus for hourly workers, and substantial improvements to their 401k contributions.

Here’s what IAM District 751 wrote:

On Monday, November 4, 2024, IAM District 751 and W24 Machinists voted by 59% to accept the proposal and return to work. Workers CAN return to work as early as first shift on Wednesday, November 6, 2024, for those members who want to return as quickly as possible. You MUST return to work by the beginning of your shift on Tuesday, November 12, 2024. The strike has ended.

Average annual pay for machinists, currently $75,608, would climb to $119,309 in four years under the current offer, Boeing said.

IAM 751 members rejected September and October offers.

Before the vote, when the October 31st contract was on the table, Everett Mayor, Cassie Franklin wrote:

“I want to commend IAM 751 President Jon Holden and the union’s bargaining committee for working in good faith to successfully negotiate a strengthened contract for their 33,000 members. Jon and his team are strong advocates for their membership, our community and Boeing’s future. I truly believe impactful contract gains have been achieved and I’m hopeful our machinists will feel this agreement better reflects the importance and value of their work.”

Acting U.S. Labor Secretary Julie Su, played an active role in recent negotiations. Boeing reported a third quarter loss of 6.1 billion.
