A long-time breakfast option in Downtown Everett has officially disappeared. Strawberry Patch Cafe opened up in 1986 and had its struggles through the years, but after struggling with repairing for a couple of months, they were never able to get back on their feet again.
Strawberry Patch Cafe posted they were closing temporarily for “pipes and flooring repairs” on August 4th. At they time, they thought it would be a 10-day closure. They never reopened again.

Two days ago, the Bayside Neighborhood Association posted a picture that showed a hand printed sign on the window with the words “Closed For Like Forever.”
Here’s what the neighborhood association wrote to go with their picture:
“It’s with a heavy heart that we learned the Strawberry Patch Cafe on Colby Avenue is closed for good. They were moving all their furniture and appliances out of the space today. They were a go to breakfast and lunch establishment in downtown Everett, and they’ll be missed.”
The former owner left comments on Reddit:
“I’m Bora the former owner. The real issue is that the building owner has never done maintenance to the location, we asked for the floors to be fixed because they’d deteriorate from below and they never did anything to fix the pipes. These issues were here before I took over the Patch over 9 years ago.
There were no rats, no bugs other than the drain flies that were produced from the pipes that we tried to maintain and overall, it was too much for me to handle. Especially since I was just renting the space. I’ve repaired everything I could in the space with the little money I was able to scrounge for myself. Basically I was handed a crappy situation to deal with and the building owners didn’t want to maintain their building.”
More drama over on Reddit from one of the former line cooks who claims their paychecks often bounced.
11/8/24 Update: Owners of the building responded with:
“The issues that led to the declining condition of the cafe’s space were due to the actions of the tenant.”
