A high speed chase on US-2 led to a rollover accident in the residential streets of Downtown Everett.
Everett Police are investigating the crash, but here’s what we know so far:
State Troopers were chasing a vehicle on the US-2 West, after trying to stop the driver for a traffic violation. This chase eventually led to downtown Everett.
The suspect vehicle was T-boned by an innocent teenage driver in a residential area in the Riverside neighborhood at the intersection of 19th Street and Rainer Avenue.
The T-bone accident occurred around 7pm last night, causing one car to rollover. The crash killed the suspect, and the innocent 17-year old female driver only suffered minor injuries..
One person listening to the police scanners said the Washington State Patrol found a firearm on the deceased suspect. Everett officer, CJ Hawley confirmed that the suspect was known, and had a criminal background.
The 50 year old suspect driver that died was in a Black 2013 Kia Rio and had a dog with him. The dog was injured and picked up by animal control.
The road was closed for nine hours during the investigation.
This is the 2nd pursuit that led to a death in Everett in just over a week. The other one was after the suspect shot two people and was fleeing the scene before taking his own life.
Typically, the full story doesn’t come out until after the investigation is complete.
Since it involves multiple agencies, and neither have reported on it, we don’t expect answers for some time.
We will update this story when more information is available.
