At approximately 1:05 p.m., Everett Police officers were dispatched to a report of shots fired at the Park View Apartments located on the 1100 block of W. Casino Road.
When officers arrived, they located two victims – one deceased male and one female with non-life-threatening injuries. The female was transported to the hospital.
Witnesses identified the suspect and his vehicle and informed officers that he had fled.
By 1:40 p.m., officers had located the suspect vehicle and began pursuit near 19th Ave. SE and El Capitan Way, following the suspect onto I-5 North.
After a short pursuit, the suspect vehicle crashed, near MP 190. Initial indications show that uninvolved vehicles were involved in the crash. Shortly after, officers heard gun shots coming from the suspect vehicle.
Officers were eventually able to safely approach and determined that suspect was deceased. No shots were fired by law enforcement.
I-5 North and South were closed initially and I-5 South re-opened shortly after. I-5 North will have partial lane closures for the duration of the investigation. Expect a delay. Please use alternate routes.
UPDATE 9/25/24: The Snohomish County Medical Examiner’s Office has completed the examination and confirmed the identification of the 18-year-old male shooter who died on northbound Interstate-5 south of 41st Street in Everett, Washington on September 22nd, 2024. The examiner did not release the name “out of respect for the family’s wishes.” The cause of death is gunshot wound. The manner of death is Suicide.
