This morning a collision involving a semi occured on Highway 2 in Snohomish, near Monroe.
A semi truck rear ended a pickup towing a box trailer carrying an herbicide mixture.
Around 15-20 gal leaked out of the containers onto the road. Fire crews contained the liquids using absorbent materials and will be handing command to WSP and Dept. of Ecology for further cleanup.
All lanes of US 2 remain blocked for the past several hours. The closure is between Roosevelt and Fryelands Blvd. in Snohomish and traffic is backed up several miles.
Please be patient as crews are working on removing the vehicles and cleaning up a spill.
Plan your afternoon travels accordingly, using alternative routes or avoiding the area if possible.
UPDATE: The Highway reopened around 1:30pm.
