The Washington State Freight Mobility Strategic Investment Board (FMSIB) announced the selection of Brandy DeLange as its next executive director. She is set to start her new position on Sept. 16, 2024.

“We are pleased to have found such an excellent candidate to join FMSIB as our new executive director,” said FMSIB Board Chair Temple Lentz.

“Washington is one of the most freight-dependent states in the nation. FMSIB is charged with helping the Legislature find and develop the most strategic ways to facilitate the movement of that freight and bolster our economy, while also lessening the impacts of that movement on our local communities. We need a forward-thinking, energetic leader, and Brandy brings the background, experience, and dedication FMSIB needs to lead us into our next chapter.”

DeLange previously served as a government relations advocate with the Association of Washington Cities, working on transportation, public works, infrastructure, and energy issues. She spent nearly a decade prior to that advocating on behalf of local governments and agencies in Colorado.

DeLange holds an M.A. in Public Policy and Administration from the University of Colorado-Denver, and a B.A. in Political Science and English from the University of Colorado-Boulder.

“I’m excited to be joining FMSIB at a pivotal point in its history. I look forward to leading the organization as it addresses the critical issues affecting freight movement in our state,” said DeLange.

“FMSIB’s work is central to bolstering Washington’s economy and strengthening its communities. This is a great opportunity to contribute my knowledge and expertise toward such important work. My thanks to members of the FMSIB Board for their support.”

FMSIB is composed of a 17-member Board appointed by the Governor. Its members represent cities, counties, ports, industry, and the community.
