Two projects up for grabs for the right artists. The first project is worth $5,000 and the second up to $25,000, including the installation cost.


Flora/Fauna Pot

Evergreen Arboretum and Gardens, 145 Alverson Blvd, Everett, WA is seeking an artist to create a sculptural representation of plants to fill an existing container which will be provided by the Arboretum.

Animals native to the Pacific Northwest may also be included as part of the piece. The pot will sit next to a bench. Its dimensions are 27″ height with an inside diameter of 26 3/4″. The sculpture (or sculptural pieces) should be weather- and vandal-proof and include methods of securing the work to the pot. To be considered for this opportunity, please present your artist biography, including previous works.

Artist will be responsible for the installation of the piece in the container. Board of Directors’ decision will be on October 8, with installation required in December. Kinetic Sculpture

Evergreen Arboretum and Gardens, 145 Alverson Blvd, Everett is seeking an artist to provide an interactive/kinetic sculpture that encourages participation and exploration, shaping the artistic experience through movement, and engaging viewers and children.

The site for the sculpture is part of a recently renovated area of the Arboretum designated as the Backyard Garden. The site’s dimensions are 29′ x 25′ x 3′ h. The shape is irregular, and the site is currently empty except for an evergreen shrub and a bench.

We hope for a creative vision for the site. Site visits are encouraged and may be scheduled by emailing us at contactus@evergreenarboretum.com.

Public art experience is preferred but not required. To apply for this opportunity, please submit your previous artworks and an artist biography as instructed on the link provided on the Arboretum’s website.

The Board of Directors will select up to three artists to provide a rendering based on the preliminary applications. Each artist selected will receive a fee of $500. You should consider how you see your piece fitting into the environment, including ideas for landscaping to tie it to rest of the gardens, as well as what materials will be used. Because the work will be in an unsupervised public space, the work should be weather- and vandal-proof as well as securely fastened. The fee, including installation, is up to $25,000. Installation in 2025.

Up to three artists will be selected by the EA&G Board to provide a rendering. Artist Fee: $500

Provide written information regarding how you see your sculpture fitting into the mound, including ideas for landscaping and what materials will be used to weather-proof, vandal-proof and a provide a secure method of fastening the artwork.
