In response to growing community concerns, last Tuesday, officers conducted a shoplifting emphasis at the Fred Meyer store on Evergreen Way.
This Fred Meyer location has been in the news several times, including a car explosion, a bank robbery, a gunpoint pharmacy robbery, and shootings. It is also the center of a no sit ordinance a year ago.
The police force included the Community Outreach and Enforcement Team (COET), the Community Bicycle Unit (CBU), and the South Administrative Sergeant.
As a result of their combined efforts, 3 thefts were deterred, 4 subjects were booked into the Snohomish County Jail, 2 subjects were issued citations, 60 fentanyl pills and a small amount of fentanyl powder were seized, and approximately $425 of stolen merchandise was recovered.
The purpose of the shoplifting emphasis is to focus law enforcement efforts on determent and accountability regarding retail theft, which negatively impacts both our businesses and our community members.
