In the early hours of Wednesday, July 10, just after 3:30 am, the Everett Fire Department quickly extinguished a commercial fire at a three-occupancy strip mall located at 8407 Evergreen Way.

Firefighters arrived to find a working fire in the business of Los Guerreros Taqueria. Fortunately, no injuries were reported.

Engine 6 and Aid 6 were the first to enter the business and encountered thick black smoke from floor to ceiling. They located a fire on the lower portion of a commercial display refrigerator and quickly extinguished it, preventing it from spreading to the rest of the business or neighboring businesses.

A preliminary investigation points to a possible mechanical failure of the refrigeration unit. Firefighters confirmed the fire had not spread to other parts of the building, unplugged the display case, and worked to clear the smoke from the building.

Mutual aid was provided by the South County and Mukilteo Fire Departments.
