Officer involved shooting

Law enforcement officers run to an area near 9th and Pine street in Everett, WA on Friday May 19th.

Got an update via social media from the Public Information Officer for the KING County Independent Force Investigation Team who is looking into the shooting last Friday involving multiple officers from police agencies in and around Everett, WA.

Because of the number of local agencies involved the team from King County was brought in and the local agencies have been excluded from the investigation.

The man who reportedly shot at officers and was later shot and killed in an exchange of gunfire is a 34-year-old man and not 24 as previously reported.

His identity along with cause and manner of death will be release by the Snohomish County Medical Examiner’s Office.

Three law enforcement officers remain on administrative leave. They are a Sergeant from Everett Police, a Sergeant from Lynnwood Police and a Deputy with the Snohomish County Sheriff’s office.

Investigators have talked with multiple witnesses and are still reviewing evidence from four different scenes.

Another update is expected from the King County IFIT team next Friday.
