MARYSVILLE: Southbound SR 529 reduces to one lane into 2024

With SR 529 reduced to one lane in each direction between Ebey Slough as of early Friday, April 28, southbound drivers will notice a reduced speed limit until they are south of the I-5 overpass. The new speed limit is now 25 because there are a couple of sharp turns in the southbound lane.

The configuration will remain in place until fall of 2024 so our contractor crews can build a roundabout and new ramps, which will complete the interchange of SR 529 and I-5.

When these are finished, drivers will be able to exit northbound I-5 to SR 529 as well as go from SR 529 onto southbound I-5. When complete, this project also will extend the HOV lane from the US 2 interchange in Everett to SR 529.

Our contractors also are building a median barrier between the northbound and southbound lanes. This will replace the current jersey barriers separating traffic.
